1. Read for yourself John 20:24-29. What stands out to you as you read this passage?
2. This is the famous “Doubting Thomas” passage. Thomas was not with the other disciples when Jesus first appeared and has exclaimed that until he touches the risen Jesus himself he will not believe. Do you connect with Thomas? Do you ever struggle with doubt?
3. Like a heavy fog lying over a valley, doubt has a strange ability to cloud our lives and cast shadows on our relationships with each other and God. If you struggle with doubt, you are not alone! Doubt is a very normal part of a healthy life with Christ. It can cause problems, but it also can be a catalyst for growth. What would it look like for you to have your doubts blossom and grow into deeper belief?
4. While it may be encouraging to know that you are not alone in your doubts, it’s also true that doubt is a terrible place to make your home. It’s important to journey through your doubts to something better on the other side. To keep journeying we need to reflect on our doubts, ask questions in a safe space, and engage what scripture says is true. Are you willing to take the next step in the journey of your doubts? Take time this week to reflect on your doubts, write them down, and then commit to keep moving forward.
