Read for yourself 2 Chronicles 7:1-6. What stands out to you as you read this passage?
In the Bible the Temple was thought of as the place where God dwelled. They believed that the Temple couldn’t contain God, but there was also something special about the Temple. The Temple was seen as an overlapping space between Heaven and Earth. Somehow God’s real presence was there. What do you think of this idea? Where do you think God lives?
After the Temple was destroyed the Prophets wrote about waiting for God’s ultimate Temple. Through Jesus God’s presence and rule came into our world in a new way. He was the embodiment of the Temple, a living breathing place where God dwelled among His people. What do you think of this description of Jesus?
After His resurrection Jesus said that God’s presence would come to dwell in and among His followers. As the Holy Spirit descended on the church, each Christian became a sort of new temple. What does it mean to you to know that you are a Temple of God?
